Eliminate Shipping Overcharges with Shipping Scales

by Jordan 8. November 2010 15:44

In today's economy, every penny matters for your business. Smart business owners are beginning to eliminate shipping charge overages by investing in a shipping scale. When even an ounce can mean several dollars difference in the shipping costs, savvy business owners are turning to shipping scales to make sure their shipping weights are precisely accurate. There are many different scales on the market, so choosing the best one for your business needs is crucial. Investing in a quality scale doesn't necessarily mean blowing the budget however, quality scales are available for very affordable prices.

Depending on the shipping carrier being used, shipping prices can vary drastically when going over a certain weight limit. The difference between two packages whose weight differs just one ounce can mean huge yearly overages. Quality shipping scales can give a much more accurate weight than a typical cheaply made scale found in a department store. When your bottom line relies on accurate shipping weights, chose a scale made for the job.

There are a broad variety of shipping scales made for customers with different needs. Some scales are designed to primarily weight smaller packages, and have a relatively low max weight. Others are designed for heavier packages and tend to be less accurate if used to weight parcels too small. Choose a scale which will fit the majority of parcels your business ships. Some may fall above or below, but cover the weight range that will give coverage to the majority of your packages.

Buying a quality shipping scale doesn't mean spending a great deal of money. Quality shipping scales can be purchased for all budgets, without breaking the bank. And the savings in overages can quickly pay for the purchase of a quality shipping scale. You can view our entire selection of shipping scales by visiting our webiste.

Counting Scales

by Jordan 20. April 2010 16:41

Counting Scales use weight to measure quantity. Counting scale are used for many different applications. For example, an arcade inside your local mall more than likely uses counting scales to determine the number of tickets a customer turns into claim a prize. Since the arcade has the ticket weight pre-programmed into the scale, all that is needed is to select that they'll be weighing tickets, then load the scale.

The scale from there, calculate the total number of tickets based upon total weight. It's that simple.

When buying a counting scale, it is good to select a scale with the proper capacity for your application. If you will be weighing items around 50 or so pounds, do not buy a scale with a 120 lb capacity as the higher the scale capacity, the more the accuracy fluctuates.
